Events 2010

At LA BOURSE between author meetings the Festival organises a number of events:

  • The performance is the highlight of Friday afternoon, 4th June.
Open to the public, professional or amateur cartoonists must draw in just a few hours an original work of 2 or 3 pages choosing part or all of a black and white ‘board’ suggested by the Patron (F’Murrr). The final boards are sold at a charity auction.
  • A live battle of cartoonists takes place on the central podium.
The chosen theme is agreed with the public and then illustrated in a time agreed by the competitors, the winner is chosen by applaud-o-meter.
  • Colouring demonstrations : the Festival aims to promote industry skills and presents a profession which is becoming more and more important in the realisation of an album : the job of the colourist.
This year artists colour-in a drawing with using a graphic palette and the more traditional brush and paint.
This demonstration is projected onto a screen so that everyone can watch the colourist at work.
  • Conferences : some conferences open to all are available : the colourist profession, history of comics, history of manga …
  • Studio Bande Dessinée : Professionals give courses, open to all, during the weekend of the festival.
  • A wall of expression is available to festival goers, a fun activity for young and old.
  • Treasure hunt: participants have to search the sites of festival partners in order to find clues which will lead them to the prizes.
An entry form is available at each of the participating bookshops.
  • Comic-strip quizzes are scheduled for several times a day, with prizes for the winners.
  • Concert : The Festival welcomes musicians and groups throughout the weekend of the festival.
