Welcome
Hello and welcome to the official site of Strasbourg’s 2011 festival of comic-strip, or comics convention if you prefer.
Whether you’re familiar with the festival already or are entirely new it – you will find all the answers to your questions right here … in French. Yes, sorry, while we do endeavour to ensure that all information is available here in the international language of business as well as French, it is somewhat inevitable that we won’t always be on top of the game. In which case – if there is anything you’d like to know that you can’t find an answer to here – please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
So what’s new this year? Well, we’re not changing any of the elements of the festival that make it special (meet the author round-tables, European coverage …), however a number of local partners (museums, libraries, book stores etc) will be playing a more important role this time.
Here’s a quick run down of what’s currently envisaged to unfold during the run-up to and weekend of the festival:
Guests: Firstly Régis Loisel has done us the honour of accepting our invitation as Guest of Honour. Writer and illustrator (la Quête de l’Oiseau du Temps, Peter Pan, Magasin Général,…), grand prix at Angoulême in 2002, marks him ouot as one of the masters of bande dessinée alongside the likes of Hergé, Uderzo or Franquin.
Exhibitions: There will be several for visitors and locals before and during the festival including an homage to local celebrity Tomi Ungerer.
Seminars: Again the Friday before the festival is dedicated to professionals – with a series of talks going on at the nearby médiathèque André Malraux.
Exhibitors: there will be more than forty local businesses and associations involved in the festival weekend offering a world of interesting objects and titles to fans and collectors of all ages.
Attractions: Games, workshops, shows, demonstrations, concerts etc.. have been conceived to entertain kids of all ages … and those under 11 years get in for free!
When, where and when?
The main festival is the weekend of 4 / 5 June and takes place at the Bourse and on Place de Lattre de Tassigny. Entry is 3 € per day but free for accompanied children under 11 and Cosplayers.
